- I have a Microcom DeskPorte 28.8P modem that I am using with Windows
- 95. Every other time I try to access the modem, it gives me the error
- message that the "...modem is in use by another application or a
- Dial-Up Networking connection". I can immediately try again and it
- always works. If the number is busy, and I try to redial, I get the
- same message. I immediately try again, and the modem initializes and
- dials. The strange thing is that it happens every other time. Not
- every third time -- not every time -- but every other time.
-
- I am using a Petium 100MHz computer w/ 32MB RAM. The only thing that
- might be considered unusual about the computer is that I have 3
- parallel ports, and the modem is plugged into LPT3:. I have checked
- for all of the usual things such as memory address or IRQ conflicts,
- but can find nothing that I can imagine would cause such a thing to
- happen.
-
- If anyone has any suggestions, please reply via email.
